EVENTS
As part of the Ranganathan Project, the “Luigi Pio Tessitori” Indological Society and the Department of Languages and Literatures, Communication, Education, and Society of the University of Udine aim to organize conferences, seminars, lectures, and other events centered on the theme of “interculturality”, with particular attention to the work of Ranganathan and the ancient wisdom traditions of India. A transdisciplinary approach will be adopted to explore topics across fields such as linguistics, epistemology, philosophy of science, sustainability, neuroscience, information systems, and artificial intelligence. The first event, held in 2022, was dedicated to exploring the intellectual legacy and pioneering vision of Shiyali Ramamrita Ranganathan. The conference also offered deeper insights into Ranganathan’s cultural, philosophical, and religious background, highlighting the crucial role that Hindu doctrines and cultural traditions to which he deeply belonged played in shaping the principles of modern knowledge organization.
